Can I just give a huge shout out to lookitzpancakes ? Ever since I discovered his YouTube channel last week my wife and I have been watching 2-3 videos a day and loving them. We now just pull up YouTube on the TV/Surround in the living room and watch them there. We love your stuff! We just thoroughly enjoyed these two:

Usually, depending on how I feel I'll jump into a moderately popular area. I try to avoid jumping into high traffic areas every game. Examples of that type include Waterworld, Rozhok, Yasnaya, North or South Geo, Severny, Shooting Range... etc... That said, I do occasionally jump into school or Mil base if I'm feeling particularly aggro.

After I jump I constantly watch the skies around me once I know I'm on track to land at the spot I picked. If I see people around me I try to mentally mark the general area they'll be landing from closest to furthest from me in order or importance. If I'm landing in a city I'll almost always try to land on the roof of a roof accessible building.

Once I've looted to the point where I feel comfortable taking a fight I will try to actively seek out the nearest people who dropped in my area. Most of the time I don't run right at them but kind of circle the area I knew they dropped and watch or listen for movement. I'm almost always crouch walking during this phase of the game, especially in buildings, so I can hear people coming up on me better.
When I've eliminated my immediate threats I start to think about where the plane path and try to find a route that will give me a decent chance to find other people to kill but not put me in danger or being pinched between people, or flanked by high ground/good defilade.

If I'm in circle I'll generally try to just patrol my area and keep an eye on the spots people will be coming from, usually that involves remember the plane path and trying to think objectively about where I would go if I had landed where they did, and trying to predict the most likely spots I should keep my vision posted towards.
If I'm out of circle I will usually start moving towards it with 30-45 seconds left on the clock if I'm far away(less than 30 seconds if I know I have a vehicle) , or if I'm close to the circle I will just start moving a little after the blue begins to close in.

Once the circle closes depending on if the new circle location is close or far my strategy changes slightly. If its far I'll usually ditch the car and run, but if my path into circle takes me through areas I feel may be highly contested I may just drive in again. After the 3rd circle I ditch any vehicle I might have, because after that every circle is within running distance, most of the time.

Within death circle and beyond (Death circle is the one that's smaller than a square on the map; aka. 1km) I will usually rotate around the edge of the circle trying to get to the smallest side between the blue circle and white. During this time I try to act as a gate keeper, killing anyone I see still trying to make it in from the blue and keeping my eyes on either the highground around me or the area in front of where I'm rotating. I will also turn around every 10-20 seconds just to make sure no one is trying to use the same strat against me.

After that it's just a matter of continuing to rotate into good positions/defilade and listening for movement/weapon fire so I can pinpoint my opposition and either take shots if I feel I can without putting myself into a disadvantageous situation. I have a 30% top 10 rate, and almost a 10% win rate. My average k/d ratio is around 3.3. I may not be as good as my ranking idicates, but I take each match seriously and always try to out think/out maneuver my enemies.
