Holy shit, have you guys seen this?

John Cleese and Michael Palin discussing and then defending their just about to be released film "Life of Brian" on TV in 1979. After giving the Pythons some time the host then asks the Bishop of Southwark for a review and things start moving (south) quickly. I feel the Pythons make some good points throughout though.

After showering under a high-pressure shower head on vacation, I became disgusted with ours and replaced it.

This is fascinating technology. It's not a gimmick and has a real effect. Apparently, all shower heads are restricted to 2.5 gallons per minute since 1994, and the one i got does only 2, but it feels much more powerful.

Any other music out there that is like Perturbator. I am really into this 80s dark synth sound.

Your dad should ditch the broker and put his money in a few vanguard funds instead.

This is my high risk fund (VSGAX) http://cl.ly/image/190Z0H3d131M

This is my low risk fund (VCVSX) http://cl.ly/image/3I0r053A0J26

I just put my shit there and never touch it.

    Suggest me some sci-fi, Shack.

Just finished A Fire Upon the Deep (finally—it was my third attempt at reading it; couldn't ever get into it before and kept putting it down). Really liked it! Also recently read The Martian (super fun read) and Ready Player One (which was good, but a little juvenile).

Need some more good beach sci-fi.

Should I read Neuromancer? Snow Crash? The Night's Dawn trilogy? Something else entirely? I like space operas, hard sci-fi, soft sci-fi... Anything in space, really. Never read much cyberpunk but I like what I've seen. Post apocalyptic is cool, too. Not big on fantasy.

I've read Old Man's War, The Expanse series, both the Ender and Bean quadrilogies, Hyperion/Fall of Hyperion, the Commonwealth Saga, Spin, Starship Troopers, The Forever War, The Road, Alas, Babylon, Childhood's End, The Stars My Destination, Solaris, 1984, Brave New World, Fahrenheit 451, and a whole bunch more I'm likely forgetting.

    Who digs chiptunes?

I don't, for the most part, but I came across these guys called Rymdreglage a couple years ago and they're just frigging incredible. One of their latest: http://youtu.be/ETSRh0negFI

Their stuff really strikes me more than other chiptune artists because much of their music actually sounds like it could be an 8 or 16 bit game. And it's a little shocking how much quality output there is.

Like I said, I'm not a chiptunes fan, but I can hardly get enough of these guys. Trouble is, nearly anything else I come across can even compare to these guys. Are they just The Beatles of chiptunes, or is there a stable of the genre I haven't uncovered yet?

Scared of heights? Don't watch this. Insane free climbing documentary. http://vimeo.com/22438185

Alex Honnold is fucking incredible, basically fearless and a sincerely shit hot climber. He's doing incredibly difficult climbs without a rope. We're talking routes that my Dad, a veteran climber, reckons he never had a chance on even with a rope (he climbed since age 15 including numerous first ascents in Tasmania, did a mountain in Antarctica and was a Support Climber on K2 FFS.)
