A bunch of people whined about protests becoming violent and not effective and defund the police being an ineffective slogan. Probably a lot of the same people telling BLM to stop blocking traffic years ago when that started.

Protests work.

Hoo boy. So it looks like a job offer to move to and work in the UK is now officially being put together for me. I am going all sorts of wacky with all the emotions.
Took the Shack advice and threw the desired salary question back at the company with a list of genuine concerns and worries and a reiteration of what I can bring to the table. They said let's talk on the phone - they outlined a range they typically pay, I said I needed a little more to confidently take this massive chance on this kind of life change, they understood that, offered some extra perks to make moving less painful, and a promise they'll do their best to get me as close as they can to what I want.

Excited? Obviously. New horizons, really tremendous project, great studio/company.
Anxious? Yes. Huge life change. It might all still blow the fuck up and I'll be working retail merchandising for a while longer here in OC and working at getting anything a bit more appropriate and with better pay.
Sad? Yes, that it never really worked out for me here on the west coast. I loved being here, but I never loved living here, and I always hated working here. I was always in a state of perpetual 'looking out the classroom window wanting to just go play and hating my obligations'. For real, I don't know how people get anything done out here, it's so fucking amazing to be outside and experience the natural wonders and explore. I just took a drive and it was just like it's always been - I feel disconnected from the intellectual. I just wanna go adventuring, be physically present, assault my eyeballs with beauty. But really, it's like you have to work yourself miserable just to get by and you never have time to really enjoy this place. Oh and TOO MANY FUCKING PEOPLE EVERYWHERE ALL THE TIME AAAAAH which wears on someone relatively introverted.
Relieved? Not yet. Not until things are signed, work has been done, and paychecks are coming in.
Exhausted? Hells yeah. So much thinking about the hows and whats of what all this is going to entail. I gots to get on selling off some shit and figuring out how and where I want to store some stuff here in the US.

HAPPY SHACKMAS TO ALL AND TO ALL A GOOD [LOL]!

Hey there Chatty! I know I don't really post in here much and mostly just lurk and keep an eye out for comments on my articles. But today is my two year anniversary doing it for Shacknews and just wanted to take a minute and thank y'all for supporting us and allowing me to live this amazing dream. I've been working in video games for something like 13 or 14 years now and being a part of Shacknews has definitely been one of the most amazing experiences of my life let alone my career. Big shout outs to the entire team here and to TMWTB himself for giving me a shot in the first place. I'm looking forward to a most excellent third year of doing it for Shacknews!

I'm discharged from the hospital! The seizure and headaches were symptoms of a mild viral encephalitis. I have an appt with neurology next week where I guess I'll learn more. They sent me home with scripts for Levetiracetam and Amitriptyline. Feeling pretty good today. It's nice to have real coffee again, even though my chewed up tongue is still so raw I have to drink it lukewarm.

Glad to be alive!
