The other night in the ICU a patient with covid came in from the floor when her respiratory status started to tank. She was sharing a room in the hospital with her husband who was also there with covid. As the emergency response nurses wheeled her from their room to the ICU, I was told they said their goodbyes to each other. When she got to the unit, I told the husband over the phone I would have to intubate her or she would certainly die, but even if I did it was likely she would die anyway. I ended up intubating her and minutes later she went into cardiac arrest, did one round of CPR, got a pulse back only for her to arrest again a minute later and die. That night my co-worker also lost both his grandparents to covid while he was working in the ICU trying to help people.

People's actions are killing people they don't even know about. Tell your friends to go fuck themselves, you did the right thing.

No one close to me, but an ex-coworker I knew.
He lost his two daughters to a house fire. Initial report blames the smoke detectors, or possibly lack ot thereof.

What's the worst interview you've ever had? I just had the most confrontational interview in my life. It was crazy.

I didn't want this job in the first place (the company sounds like a scam), but I agreed to do an interview just to check it out. They were 5 minutes late joining the meeting and kept muting me to talk with each other while I was in the middle of saying something (they were in a conference room). Then they kept saying they wanted me for a different role than I was interviewing for, I told them I wasn't interested and they kept pushing. Then at the end they said they would want me in the office most days, I told them it would be about an hours drive for me so I wasn't sure about that, and I'm pretty sure one of the guys mumbled "that's a lie" under his breath. WTF?

I think this was worse, and more awkward, than the time I interviewed for a job and the guy asked me what church I went to.
