Continuing my post apocalyptic reading list. So far I've read:

Should i read Alas Babylon or The Beach? Any other recommendations?

Pro-tips:

Gearing strategies haven't changed in Loot 2.0 for the most part.

Some general rules on what makes items in different slots good (applies loosely to all classes):

Main-hand weapon (or 2h) - High DPS, Main Stat (Dex in this case), a Socket (very important). Extra points for additional attack speed or crit damage.

Off-hand Weapon - Same rules as Main-hand but you want the offhand to be fast. This means faster weapons and built in attack speed.

Off-hand non-weapon: Quivers: HIgh dex, 15%+ attack speed, Crit hit Chance (preferably 8%+) Source / Mojo: High Avg-Dmg (100-400 being really good), High Int, Crit Chance.

Helmet - High main stats, socket, all resist.

Shoulders - HIgh main stats, all resist, armor

Chest - HIgh main stats, 3 sockets, all resist, armor

Belt - High main stats, all resist / armor, attack speed

Pants - High main stats, 2 sockets, armor, all resist

Boots - High main stats, all resist / armor, 12% move speed

Gloves - Hih Main stat, 8%+ Crit Chance, 6%+ Attack Speed, Crit Hit Damage.

Bracers - Main stats, all resist, 5%+ Crit chance

Rings - Main stat, 4%+ Crit Chance, 6%+ attack speed, Crit damage, Avg-Damage

Amulet - Main stat, 8%+ Crit Chance, 75%+ Crit Damage, Attack speed.

Notes: Main Stat = Strength, Int, Dex. Main Stats = Main Stat + Vit or Life %

Some specs may not want attack speed, but this is the exception not the rule.

When comparing items the general priority should look like: Crit Chance > Attack Speed > Crit Dmg > Main Stat > Life Stats > Avg Dmg > All Resist > Armor

Loot 2.0 is nice, getting legendaries is nice, but understanding that even with 2.0 the vast majority of the drops are still garbage will greatly benefit you. They are deceptive because the main stats are so high but that is not even close to enough to make an item good.

It's a 26 minute video all about Turtle Rock Studios and how Left 4 Dead came to be, as well as some insight into their studio's current work on Evolve. If you had any interest in L4D at some point, check it out. Very illuminating on their past and present relationship with Valve. Some of it you may have heard before, like their work on the CS bots leading to the whole coop zombie game idea, but there was a lot of new and interesting info in there as well. I did not have much of a reaction to Evolve when it was announced, but now it's on my radar. You gotta pull for those guys.
