So, this might be of mild interest to some you, though it's not new.

Byuu, the author of the BSNES emulator, designed a SNES sound chip called the MSU-1, which has been integrated into some flash carts and is supported by some emulators. It basically allows for CD quality audio.

Someone made a custom hack of Super Metroid, giving it a full orchestral sound track via this chip:

I'd still probably prefer to play the original, but I have to admire that level of work.

Literary Sci-fi Fiction recommendations

Just finished reading The First 15 Lives of Harry August and it was excellent. Highly recommended. Shack book recommendations is right on the nose yet again and has yet to fail me (ok except Wool - I dont know how shack liked that so much. it was pretty boring and badly writtenl) I'd say it's literary science fiction without the usual trappings of sci-fi and easily one of the best books I've read in awhile. I am looking for a thought provoking book that's also a page turner (no fantasy please as I'm done with that genre)
