where you go from here depends on whether you have the capital to fund development of this product.
if not, game over. this isn't happening. move on with your life. ideas are a dime a dozen, and so are idea guys. no developer needs or wants your unsolicited idea; they have more than enough ideas of their own that don't require cutting someone else in. maybe you can find a bright but naive college student to do it but good luck with that approach.
if you do have the money, then there are some options. you could go to a contract development house and pay them to develop it. that will work. you could find a developer to be a partner in a business that you will start (and you will pay for). that could work. the important thing here is that you're bringing the money to the table; without that, you're not bringing anything of value to the table (since the idea itself is worthless), so good luck finding someone to do the work for you.
in these scenarios, the patent doesn't do you any good, unless you've got some wall space that you need to cover up with your framed patent. just wastes time and money.
in general i would worry less about protecting your idea and more about how, realistically, you're going to turn this idea into a product. everybody and their grandmother has had product ideas. they don't matter unless you can actually make it happen

35 infsYou guys are like guests at a party that start discussing how much this party sucks and how there are totally better parties down the block, while the host is standing right next to you. You drink his beer and finish whatever you can find in the fridge, and then as you're getting ready to leave you start taking as many bottles of booze as you can carry.

35 infsPeople with absolutely no spatial awareness. Just got to the top of an escalator? Hey, good time to just stop dead in your tracks and look around for where you are supposed to go. Also a great idea when walking down a crowded hallway.
