Lenders now seeing 60-, 70-, even 90-year mortgages as Canadians struggle with rocketing interest rates
https://www.thestar.com/business/2023/06/27/rising-mortgage-rates-fixed-payment-woes-some-homeowners-seeing-amortization-periods-skyrocketing.html
For most homeowners, the standard time to pay off a mortgage is 25 years.
Now, in the face of crippling interest rates, some existing homeowners are seeing their amortization period go as high as 90-years as their ‘fixed-payment’ variable-rate mortgages adjust automatically to rising interest rates while the monthly payment remains the same.
Lenders must be really optimistic about life expectancy.

7 wowsThis impacted me and I'm not amused. My entire commute is 1 hour in and 2 later if I leave at 5. You would think that would exempt me except it apparently doesn't, I'll just leave after traffic in the morning and leave Dell at 2pm to get home. And I've always been remote, except now mysteriously everyone, including people who were remote before covid, are being told it applies to them. A LOT of people are pissed and won't be able to make this work. There is some flexibility, so I'll probably being 2 days a week 4 hours each time. And I'll actually get less work done than I will at home. So my days of going the extra mile and jumping on calls early morning or late hours is over, not happening anymore. They really screwed themselves with this, people were told it would be permanent and make life decisions accordingly.

7 wowsI've always been told it's pretty much impossible to put diesel fuel into a non-diesel car these days, as in, the nozzle won't fit.
My 16 year old daughter proved to me today that is in fact NOT the case after she filled up her car with diesel and tried to drive it. She got a few blocks before it seized up. They are now going to have to drop the fuel tank and scrub it and the fuel lines. Price tag, about $1k.
When asked why she filled it with diesel, she said it had a green light that was blinking at her and it just drew her attention...so she used it.
