Took Larry to the live steam railroad for his first ride behind my locomotive. He had a blast and only jumped out once to chase a chipmunk that was running along the track.

Cat help thread

We adopted two kittens last fall, Goose and Maverick, and Goose broke his leg about 10 days ago. He’s got a casted leg and we’ve been keeping him in a mesh playpen with his litter box and comfy blankets. Unfortunately he’s gotten his cast off several times, and each time they have to sedate him, x-ray the leg, etc. On Thursday his cast was changed and to combat him taking it off they sort of wrapped bandages around his hind quarters so it couldn’t slide off easily.

Here’s the problem, I got up at 6 am this morning to feed him and give him some cuddles and found that the extra bandages the vet added had slipped down and when he tried to poop and pee the bandages caught all of it. So his rectal area and tail are covered in urine and poop (deep into his fur). We immediately cut off the extra bandages and the cast itself isn’t soiled. We tried to clean him but he’s a cat and we couldn’t do a great job. He does get gabapentin 2-3 times a day, so we administered that and are going to try and clean him again soon. If that doesn’t work I fear we might need to get the vet involved again. Last time we needed services on a Saturday they had no availability and told us to go to the pet ER, which is $500-1000 for anything.

Does anyone have tips for cleaning a casted cat?

And then there are some people who are just bad, many of whom are the aforementioned Libertarians. I deal with enough White privilege idiocy in my real life, and there’s no sense in dealing with the same bullshit here.
