I’d just like to be the first person in this thread to say fuck everything about this administration

Dear the man with the briefcase,

We chatty app developers have an idea that we think is 1.) extremely simple to add, and 2.) will more effectively drive front page users to the chatty (and hopefully thus to Mercury subscriptions).

It's changing the "Forum" button to say "Forum (X,XXX comments today)". That's it. In the old days, MD/ER would drive new users to the chatty because they'd stumble across a news article with an insane number of comments on it, and they'd click to see what it is. This makes that experience happen at the top of every Shacknews page.

The comment count, and explicitly saying those are comments "today", will make it clear that we're operating a lively community behind that button and invite people in.

Anyone who says Republicans aren’t corrupt either doesn’t pay attention to history or is a straight up cult member. It’s ridiculous that people haven’t caught on to the fact that the GOP commits straight up treason every 20 years or so.

Who appointed a special counsel to investigate whether jimmy Carter was improperly profiting from the peanut farm that had been in his family for five generations but doesn’t care at all about Trumps hotels? Republicans.

Who appointed a special prosecutor to investigate a real estate deal and found nothing so they fixated on a consensual sexual affair then released a 400 page report about it to the public less than a week after the special counsel concluded it? Republicans. Do they care about the current presidents shady real estate deals? Fuck no. Do they care about the current presidents sexual escapades? Fuck no.

Corruption exists in the United States. And it is embodied in the modern day Republican Party. There is no cause I have seen that would make them ever put the interests of the US ahead of the interest of their party. They serve themselves first, big business second, and the rest of us not at all.

I love that on days where I'm super busy and don't have time to read the news or visit the shack I can open the Trump Dump thread late at night and get a nice summary of everything that is currently happening.

The people that complain about having to scroll past one political thread per day because they don't want to enable their filters are annoying.
