It actually helps out the structure tremendously. I'll try to explain it using crappy ms paint skills.

This doesn't exactly explain the roof, but you can at least see where the stress points are located. You may think the roof adds a lot of that stress, but it's actually reliving quite a bit of it. It becomes more clearer once you draw in the lines:

It's actually pretty impressive that they were able to make such a structure without using ugly supports or beams. You'd think the top would just collapse and fall over, but the bottom is also supporting the top with the leverage it gets from having a relatively straight back with it's end straight in the air. I wonder where they got the inspiration for this building from.
