Quick update on my wife! She’s out of surgery and it was successful. They removed a Fallopian tube and a cyst, but other than some inflammation she is okay. They diagnosed her with endometriosis and said that’s what caused the cyst.

She should be able to go home today and I’ll probably get to see her in the next hour! I’m so relieved!

You guys and gals might be a bunch of racist gay fight club nullos, but I wouldn’t take you any other way. I can’t thank you all enough for the outpouring of love and support yesterday. Please go hug your (vaccinated) loved ones nice and tight this Thanksgiving I think we all need it.

I did the thing: F-16C FIGHTER PILOT EDITION!!

    http://chattypics.com/files/LiveBombs_xt0oabqkag.jpg

It's been a long road, but a week ago I graduated the F-16 basic course at Luke AFB! I'm almost a real life fighter pilot! I still have to do my mission qualification training when I get to my operational squadron before I'm combat ready.

I've been with the 310th Fighter Squadron since January, learning how to fly and employ the world's best goddamn multirole fighter, the mighty Viper! Starting with basic flying and formation, then going through basic dogfighting with the gun, how to fight as a 2-ship, and then long range air to air tactics. Also hooked up with a tanker. Then we worked on air to ground, dropping practice bombs on the range, inert but functional precision guided bombs, shooting the gun (fuck yeah!), close air support, and a live bomb drop! Then we started doing all that but at NIGHT. Despite all that, I've still got a shit ton to learn, there's always something else to know and something that can be done better. It's never ending and I love it!!

My next stop is to Osan Air Base, in South Korea! My wife and I are very excited, it's supposed to be an awesome assignment and Seoul is apparently an amazing city. We leave on 1 November, and we'll be there a year to 18 months. Any Seoul/ROK Shackers?

I've wanted to be a fighter pilot since I was literally 5 years old, and now that I've made it I can confidently say it's the best job in the world. My biggest regret is being unable to take every person I know up for a ride. SORRY ALL.

Now that I've signed the contract and received the first half of my advance, I think I can start talking publicly about this. My first book (tentatively titled Not In That Way) is set to be published in Fall of 2023 (or thenabouts) by Simon and Schuster and MTV Books.

It's a YA-ish novel about a boy who's in love with his best friend and the girl who truly doesn't feel the same way at all. When the boy's dad's diagnosed with Stage IV colon cancer, he pins all his hopes on finally asking her out on her 16th birthday, when her parents will finally allow her to date.

The similar narratives that already exist usually A) Don't center Black and Brown folks, if they even have them in the story at all; and B) focus on the boy growing beyond his toxic masculinity and learning his lesson. My emphasis is more on the mental health of the girl that has to endure the 'friend zone' bullshit and the other fallout that comes with the situation. We'll see if I pull it off.

Shack[lol] is 12 years old today!

I wrote the first version of this thing when I was in my final two weeks at my first job, where I spent 15 years getting paid to learn how to program robots, automated machines and vision systems, and every year when this comes around, I can't believe how much time's passed since I left that job. Tommy was five when I wrote this thing -- now he's a big pile of gross 17 year old. Heck, I was almost still young. My how things have changed. :*)
