I honestly don't think I can do it. My work/life flow has been based around 2/3 or 3/2 for literally years now.

Spending my weekend in the hospital with Tommy.

He had his fifth chemo treatment on Wednesday, part of which is a consult with his oncologist. Mary let her know that Tommy had been complaining about a Charlie horse for a week, and the doctor was like “hold the phone — that could be a blood clot!” So she sent us for an ultrasound of his leg.

Bingo blood clot.

Next, the oncologist said “let’s make sure they didn’t get to his lungs” and sent him for a CT scan.

Double bingo — both lungs.

So before we even left the building, the oncologist called and told me to head next door to the ER, and he got admitted and has been here since Thursday.

It’s good they caught it before something really bad happened, but it’s not our favorite place.

He’s been getting heparin intravenously, and basically has to be getting it at a therapeutic level for 24 hours. He’s still not at the starting line — they’re getting closer, but he’s still not there, so we’ll at least be here tomorrow all day and overnight.

He’s on the cardiac floor, so he’s in the right place in the event that things really go sideways.

In other news, ICQ apparently still exists. For another month or so anyway.

We bought the kids/family ragdoll cat as their big Christmas present. She came home to us on Jan 13th. The breeders named her Luna and we liked it so we kept it.

She isn't quite a cuddly as our last cat, but she is fucking awesome. So damn soft and fluffy. Pick her up and she generally just goes limp and lets you hold her for as long as you want. She enjoys it (while you're standing). She purrs almost always on contact. She follows everyone around everywhere like a dog. She is always at our feet. Hates being alone. Took to our dog after about 1 hour. She isn't as psycho as other kittens are, either.

Wish she was a little more cuddly when laying around with us, but 9.75/10 would highly recommend.

I was just laid off from my software job. Company said they were restructuring to save costs, and my job was identified as unnecessary. The reason was manufactured. They just had hired a set of new developers who are going to keep their jobs. Oh well. I was kind of expecting it based on the things the CEO would say in company meetings. I have been looking for jobs here are there but honestly it has been hard finding jobs out there. The tech industry seems like it's in a bad place right now.
