    1) Install Freetube client ( https://freetubeapp.io ).
    2) Install Privacy Redirect browser extension ( https://github.com/SimonBrazell/privacy-redirect#get ).
    3) In the browser extension's "Advanced" settings tab, enable the "Use Freetube over Invidious when possible" switch ( e.g. https://addons.mozilla.org/user-media/previews/full/241/241467.png ).

    Try blocking that shit, assholes.

    Here’s some advice from a former local:

    * Obviously the big museums are great. I am personally more a modern art/science person so I’d recommend AMNH/Guggenheim/MoMA/Whitney over the Met/Brooklyn Museum but hey, you do you.
    * On the art front, always recommend checking out some of the West Village galleries like David Zwirner: https://www.davidzwirner.com/exhibitions
    * Times Square is garbage but again, gotta go do it. Instead of getting stupid food, walk over to Halal Guys at 53rd and 6th: https://www.yelp.com/biz/the-halal-guys-new-york-2
    * See a Broadway Show, do not pay full price. Every show has a lottery, and failing that, use TKTS to buy day-of tickets to whatever.
    * Don’t bother paying ridiculous money for a circle line tour, take advantage of the cheap NYC ferry system: https://www.ferry.nyc
    * Consider using Citibike instead of doing bike rentals, especially if you subscribe to Lyft Pink which dramatically lowers the cost of ebike rentals.
    * IMO the more fun bridge to walk across is the Williamsburg Bridge, and side benefit is you end up in Williamsburg and not Downtown Brooklyn

    FOOD. There are as many bad restaurants in NYC as good ones. A couple suggestions to get you started:

    Cheap/Fast
    * Dos Toros is a burrito place that is basically a better Chipotle.
    * Xian Famous Foods is a really delicious fast noodle spot. N1 Spicy for life.
    * Any pizza slice joint is gonna be good probably, but maybe just check Yelp first. Honestly, Two Bros 1.50 cheese slices are still bomb, and Joes is now a staple everywhere.
    * My favorite pizza slice in the city is from Prince St. (Spicy Spring Square), but I guess the owner is racist or something which blows
    * Taim is a falafel chain that is very tasty. Mamoun’s is also dope in the GV
    * Crif Dogs is a EV staple that I’d recommend to anyone

    Low/Mid Tier Pricing
    * Calexico is a cal-mex chain that makes good food. They have a handful of locations.
    * The Smith (American) is a local chain that is usually easy to get into and is tasty.
    * Fish Cheeks (Thai) is possibly my favorite restaurant that has opened in the last few years. The coconut crab curry is just bomb.
    * Soothr (Thai) also quite good. They maybe have a star? idk
    * There’s a plethora of good Ramen. Recently I’d recommend Ippudo and Tonchin.

    Higher End
    * My fav pricer restaurant is Crown Shy, which has a michelin star but isn’t extremely pretentious. They have good food + a nice higher end vibe. Can’t recommend more highly.
    * Dhamaka (Indian) was also dope if you like spicy food. Do not go here if you don’t like spice
    * I believe my buddy’s fav sushi joint is Tanoshi on the UES, which was after spending $600 at Sushi Nakazawa and having him tell me that Tanoshi is half the price and arguably better

    DRINKING
    I am extremely pro outdoor drinking, now that it’s spring/summer. You’ll have to go to the outer boroughs for this but you know what, it’s worth it. The frying pan and biergarden at the standard suck. Anyway here’s some suggestions:

    Outdoor
    * Loreley (LES, only place in manh i’d recommend. great backyard)
    * Pig Beach (studio sq, long island city)
    * Bohemian Beer Garden (classic astoria, which is a great neighborhood to visit in general)
    * Anable Basin (long island city, probably the best view of mahnattan anyone gets and no one knows about it. take the ferry to LIC and walk). Also you can do a LIC brewery tour (LIC Beer Project, Big ALICE, ICONYC, Fifth Hammer)
    * Radegast (williamsburg) ok not outside but still great beer garden
    * Threes Brewing (gowanus) good beer, nice backyard

    Cocktails
    NYC has some of the best cocktail bars in the world. Price per cocktail has increased dramatically; don’t just buy a cocktail from a random place because you’ll just get fleeced. Here’s some recs:

    * Patent Pending (my favorite of all cocktail bars. amazing menu)
    * Double Chicken Please (pretty wild but limited menu)
    * Attaboy (possibly the best cocktails in the world. line up at open if you want to drink there)
    * Clover Club (good place to go if you’re headed to dumbo or carroll gardens bk in general)
    * Leyenda (sister place that makes a lot of tequila/mezcal cocktails)
    * Dutch Kills

    PIZZA
    I love pizza. Here’s some fancier pizza recs:
    * Paulie Gees
    * Emily or Emmy Squared
    * Lucali
    * Julianas in DUMBO. Suggest getting a to-go and having a picnic under the Brooklyn Bridge in BBP
    * Speedy Romeo
    * If you’re up in Midtown, you can try Di Michele (just opened) or Don Antonio by Starita
    * People love Scarrs in the LES. Haven’t tried.
    * Same w/ Mama’s Too

    This will get you started I suppose!

    iPhone tips and tricks

    This guy popped up in my IG feed and I gotta say, his tips are pretty legit.

    I realize it's a high bar here on the shack with all the IT professionals, myself included, but there's a lot of stuff in here I had never heard about. He's on Tik Tok and IG as - Kaansanity but here's some youtube compilations people have made. See if any of them are useful. There are very fast and no bullshit.

    I have done this over the last couple of years.
    Read a lot about management and human motivations.
    You won't remember much but it will give you a bunch of ideas.
    Here's some to get you started.

    Primed to Perform
    The Phoenix Project
    Rework
    The One Thing You Need to Know
    The Five Dysfunctions of a Team
    How to Measure Anything
    Managing Humans

    Get a mentor, if you don't have at your work, reach out to people in tech meetups or elsewhere and book in a weekly, or bi-weekly, catchup to talk about what you are going through. Better yet, engage a professional coach.

    Book in 1 on 1's with your reports, 1 hour a week, don't skip these! Super important, here's some tips about them http://randsinrepose.com/archives/the-update-the-vent-and-the-disaster/

    Make use of your team meetings! http://randsinrepose.com/archives/the-update-the-vent-and-the-disaster/

    In fact, have a good read of that site.

    Get feedback! This is pretty hard, but you need always ask people how you are going. Ask at the end of a meeting if it was useful for anyone, ask at the end of a 1:1 if it has been a good use of their time. Ask if the task they are working on is interesting or can you help them find something better.

    No way this turns out good. If it gets above a 40% on the tomato meter, I'll change my username to Napoleon Bonerfart.
