Hey guys. I rarely post here, but have been coming here since way back in the quake days before the quake/ut war. I’ve gone by a couple of names, all equally as idiotic as my current one. I played the first planetside with silent wolf back in the day, but that is almost my extent of interaction.

I know this time of year brings about a lot of frustration, stress, anxiety, and even sadness to some. I wanted to share a bit about my year and I know I should put this all in reply, but come on.. it would probably be skipped over.

Back in March my father (my hero and absolute best friend) was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. I came over to find him completely yellow and told him to go straight to the hospital. I took my kids home and my wonderful wife stayed with him and soothed him. That night he called and said “well bud I think this is it.. I’m headin out of here it seems.” And I just sat and cried on my porch. He also told me he was high and watching the Simpsons in the hospital cause they made him happy , to which I asked “is it cause they look like you?” What with the jaundice and all.

I had been a teacher for 10 years and he an Antique restorer. He talked of shutting the business and i couldn’t let him. Education was eating my Alive and at 350 pounds, I was eating everything else. I quit and helped him run the business as he started his chemo treatments. I watched him go through pain I’ll never know , and get WAY back into weed. He suffered hallucinations, bowel destruction and everything else. Anytime someone would feel sorry for him he’d say “nah, this ain’t shit.. this doesn’t kill me. “
He had a Whipple procedure in August, stood up and walked two hours after surgery. Told them “this doesn’t kill me.” He went in on a Thursday and left that Tuesday, then went to work the next Thursday. They got the entire tumor out. Two weeks ago his surgeon declared him cancer free.

He convinced me to start swimming again, and I now swim up to 2 hours a day and have lost 70 pounds. The business is absolutely killing it. Steady stream of work constantly. Our furniture polish has taken off even more and we ship 1500 bottles to crate and barrel every six weeks. They just told us they want to sell our wax too.

I’m the happiest I’ve ever been. When people tell him they are so sorry he says “it’s ok , I beat it and it saved my son.” I’m laying in a dark hotel room at Disney world (thanks ajvitaly) and I’m listening to my children and wife snore as if they’ve never fucking complained about my snoring.

The world is dark and full of all sorts of monsters and specters that loom over us and make us fear the future. But there is good in the darkness and I want all you strangers to know.. even tho i should have put all of this in reply, and I probably used ellipses in places that I shouldn’t have ..

There is good and this shit ain’t gonna kill us yet.

My daughter put this on my pillow this morning. I threw it in the trash and told her “ITS YOU’RE”

Threads like this only confirms for me that we are doing the right thing with this game.
