Sorry this is a bummer thread and we have a lot of that right now but I need to type this.

One of my work associates has a client that I’d see at IT events around town all the time. They guy was a fat middle aged white dude in IT … a brother from another mother. He was a good dude. I liked busting his balls and he mine and it was all good. I talked to him on Monday. The guy I know him through talked to him at 5 today.

At 5:30 on the way home, on the phone with his wife, he gets in a fatal car wreck and dies.

Monday I’m shooting the shit with him. Wednesday he is dead in the morgue. Tuesday I was seeing if I had a spare AP for him. Thursday his wife is planning a funeral. Fuck this world. There are some evil bastards out there that deserve this shit. Not some IT guy.

Friends - we only have so many hours here. And those lights can go out whenever the fuck the RNG says. Use them well. Don’t fucking waste it. And next time you’re having a drink - do me a favor - raise your glass to Darth (yeah his name was Darth the poor goofy bastard).

Super lucky with taking them to Canada. The process doesn’t require nearly as many hoops to jump through as US or any country for that matter.

Oh this poor bastard - I stopped at Panera for a coffee meeting and as I was coming in this poor bastard Was trying to go in but kinda got stuck holding the door for people leaving and people coming in. I was the last one so I held the door and told him to go ahead but then another person came out the inner door and he held that door. I’m not describing it well but it was some 50s sitcom shit and I end up in line in front of him and behind 6 people he held the door for.

I made a comment about no good deed and he said as long as he gets his blueberry scone he would be fine. The guy in front of me ordered the last blueberry scone.

The look of defeat and sadness in the door holder’s eyes was pretty easy to read. He just quietly got out of line and left at that point. He didn’t even ask if they had any more (they didn’t) - he just left defeated.

So if you have a shit day today remember you aren’t that guy.
