This year I...

I quit my job of 14 years teaching physics and astronomy in Austin where I was to recognized and values as a great teacher.

Put our house on the market as soon as they school year ended.

Loaded everything onto a U-Haul and drove it to Eau Claire WI before our house sold.

Moved my family into a rental home.

Sold my house in Austin after reducing the price and accepting an even lower offer.

Bought a new house.

Packed up the contents of the rental home.

While riding our bikes to our new house to store them in the shed, watched my son fall on his bike and smash his adult front teeth and get a concussion. Spent that evening tag team staying at the hospital with him and caring for a our toddler at the hotel we just moved into because it'd be another week before the house sale closed.

Started a new school year in a new district teaching chemistry and biology while living in a hotel. Wife also started teaching at a new school. Son with his face scraped up started 2nd grade.

Moved into a new house.

Got up at 4am every day to keep on top of new subjects I taught.

Learned how to Wisconsin winter.

And uh... I guess I'm done now. Just finished the school year. Fucking exhausted.

MY WIFE got to perform at Carnegie Hall in NYC last night. <3

Ten or so days into the pandemic I started a new streak and after seeing Chris Remo had hit a one year streak I figured that would be my goal. Back in December I hit a 1,000 day streak and now it’s 365x3 days of a streak. Remo is now doing these daily on YouTube and he’ll probably be hitting four years in the next few days.

I guess ILM grabbed this clip of Harrison Ford talking to the media and ran it through their de-aging software. That is scary good.

Got a letter from my mortgage company, thanks to property tax increase my mortgage just went from 1800 to 3800 a month. It’s like paying for my house all over again every 10 years to the city in taxes.

Tomorrow I head down to the county board to beg a more sane appraisal. This sucks.

Bright side I told my boss that this seriously put me in danger of losing the house and by the end of the day he’d secured me a 10% raise.

FUCK. Fuck.

My entire family and I, including our kids, just watched someone die right in front of us. Right after my kid’s birthday dinner :(

We were on our way home and a kid on a speed bike passed us on the right, popped a wheelie to show off, then floored it on what he thought was a clear road. And then a woman in a car turned left in front of him towards a shopping center and he hit the side, all right in front of us in broad daylight maybe 100 feet away.
