20 awwsJust found out from a friend-of-a-friend that the cat I got with my ex-wife as a kitten died. She contacted me when her dad, who hated me, died because she thought I would want to know but couldn’t be bothered to tell me something I actually loved died. Just screaming into the void here.

20 awwsUgh our senior dog just developed vestibular disease - vertigo. I was getting ready to hop in the shower and I hear a thud around the corner and I see him tipped over with his eyes darting around like he’s confused and dizzy. It went away long enough for him to potty and then came back in and now it won’t go away.
He’s 14, has ravaged joints from a life well lived playing fetch and being active, cloudy eyes, deaf and only has a few teeth left.
I’ve only talked with the vet over the phone today, and don’t have an appointment until Thursday but I hate ambiguity so my mind is already doing a downward spiral and thinking he’s at the end of his rope and it’s time.
You want them to live a healthy long life and to die in their sleep but that seems so rare. It’s almost like a clear diagnosis of a brain tumor or something definite is a blessing when you’re dealing with end of life situations.
