23 awwsOur dog Murphy was run over today. He was on a long leash when a squeaky landscaping trailer came past the house. Those send him into a frenzy and somehow he got off the line and went under a tire. No broken bones and he’s stable at the moment but he’s at the vet with fluid in his belly, too early to say if he’ll recover but he had a chance.

He’s my only adult pet. As a kid in the country we adopted the outdoor dogs and cats that stumbled into our lives. They all met ‘early’ deaths to the point that the night we adopted a kitten I balled my eyes out that it was going to die too. -

22 awwsSo they found my aunt today in her home, she had apparently passed away sometime around a week ago with the EMTs believing it was a heart attack. She was 70, so not terribly early, and her two cats managed to survive. She was a bit eccentric, she lived alone and collected all kinds of pop culture items, her bathroom was Looney Tunes themed for instance. She also was responsible for introducing me to video games as a child when she gifted my family a ColecoVision, which changed the course of my life. At the time she was the coolest aunt.
Unfortunately we weren’t on speaking terms after I cut her off when she went full Trumper a couple years back. I will never forgive conservative media as I watched their propaganda twist her world view and completely change her into someone who was sad and angry and afraid all of the time. I don’t regret cutting contact because she was supporting things that are destroying our country and harming my kids’ future, but I am sad it had to play out this way. I don’t have any wisdom or advice to share, just wanted to post about it and get some feelings out.
