When North Korea fired a some artillery shells at South Korea years ago the ROK responded by firing artillery at a DPRK army position with artillery in a rolling barrage that approached their base near the DMZ. As the barrage approached the shells split up and impacted around the perimeter of the base and then merged back as it passed them.

This basically let the North Koreans know the South Korean can hit very precisely what they want to hit but they chose not to this time.

No one died in the exchanges so it was like the best way to show how serious they could be and how much overmatch they'd have if they used it for real.
