New Call of Duty 4 Maps Coming to Consoles (Updated)

21
Update: In response to the question of whether the content would also make it to the PC, an Activision representative replied, "We haven't announced anything around the PC, but stay tuned."

Original story: Publisher Activision today announced its intention to release new downloadable multiplayer maps for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions of Infinity Ward's Call of Duty 4.

The content packs should arrive this spring. No mention of pricing, map details, or a PC release was made in the statement.

"We're excited about the new maps, and the added gameplay variety, and we can't wait to wrap things up and get online with everyone," said Infinity Ward community manager Robert Bowling.

Activision should have plenty of customers, as Call of Duty 4 was named the best-selling game of 2007 recently, with sales of over 7 million units worldwide.

New maps for PC should be a given, no?

Maybe the developers are still so pissed over the (alleged) PC piracy issue that they and the beancounters have decided to just skip any more PC stuff and focus on the consoles where they've made the vast bulk of their money anyway. You never know.

I would be one unhappy camper if the X360 got extra maps and we didn't on the PC....and you don't want to see me unhappy.

Oh, and if they want me to start playing COD4 on a fucking console with the rest of the masses, I'll gladly do so the minute a console can dance over 4 million pixels(2560x1600) at 60 frames per second with all settings on high, 2 feet from my eyes.

Nothing too special....Q6600, 8800GTX, 3gig DDR2-800, 2 Raptor 150's, Dell 30" LCD at 2560x1600. I can run pretty much every game out there at full settings(noAA at this resolution). Obviously not Crysis. 2560x1600 blows 1080p out of the water especially when it's right in front of you.

Well...how much did you spend in all that?? I was making numbers and you my friend just on that components had spend more than $2600 (i dont know for sure cause you didnt tell us all the information about your components)

In the other hand...PS3 80g (($500))+ Sharp Aquos 42" 1080p LC42D64 ((1300 on sale)) its around $1800. Right there you are saving 800 dollars over your PC, just on those components ( we didnt count your case, the air or water cooling system, the power supply, motherboard...and more components that your computer may have...)All that together i bet is more than $3000 easy...

Yes im playing at 1920×1080 while you are playing 2560x1600, but the game looks amazing at 1080p (1920×1080), the Aquos has less response time ((4ms)), more contrast ratio which means better image quality, tons of conections, HDTV Tuner Inside, you can even use it with your computer....and more and more things that your LCD from dell doesnt have at all....

On PS3 the game is running at minimum 60 fps all the time, no problems at all ,and you still have $1000 dollars in your pocket to do whatever you want... Even buy a PC to do your normal things...

So yes i rather play on my PS3 , and dont worry people, soon it will be an adapter to let you use the mouse and the keyboard to play any FPS game on PS3... until then you have to learn how to use the controller...Its hard but if i did it you can do it too. :)

What a terrible way to play this game. IMHO you'd enjoy it a heck of a lot more on a pc.
