Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Switch Bundle Shows Up on Nintendo Russia Shop
If this is indeed a thing, it could be officially announced during today's Nintendo Direct.
Beware the Russian hacks, but it appears that Nintendo Russia has leaked a Nintendo Switch bundle that includes Mario Kart 8 Deluxe ahead of time. If true, we could get more word about it at today's Nintendo Direct.
The posting, tracked down by the eagle-eyed folks at on the Nintendo Switch reddit, is likely a pre-order since Mario Kart 8 Deluxe isn't scheduled for release on Switch until April 28. There was concern that the image could be faked given the side of the box has colored Joy-Cons and the front has grey. And the site is geolocked, so even giving you the link won't help unless you have VPN or a proxy set up. So while it can't be officially confirmed, it is a possibility with today's livestream on the way.
Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is an expanded version of the game from Wii U, adding new characters Inkling Girl, Inkling Boy, King Boo, Dry Bones, and Bowser Jr. The additions bring the total number of racers to 42, which as we know is the answer to everything.
The game is also expected to allow players to again hold two items, and will bring back the Boo and Feather. Closed Arena Battle Modes will also return with Balloon Battle, Bob-omb Blast, Coin Runners, Shine Thief, and a new mode, Renegade Roundup. Online and LAN play will support up to 12 players.
The game by itself is expected to sell for $59.99, and with the Switch going for $299.99, you could expect a bundle of the two to run around $349.99 if and when it actually goes live on the U.S. Nintendo shop.
Just another reason to watch the Nintendo Direct later today at 3 p.m. PT / 6 p.m. ET.
