Mass Effect: Andromeda Multiplayer Tech Test Cancelled
Multiplayer will still be shown at PAX East, but you won't be able to play at home.
Mass Effect fans have been eagerly awaiting the release of Mass Effect: Andromeda, some hoping to sate their cravings before the game comes out with a planned tech test that developer BioWare had been taking signups for since November. Unfortunately, it appears the tech test will no longer happen.
"While we will have live multiplayer at PAX East, there will no longer be a multiplayer tech test for players at home," BioWare said in a blog post. "Thank you to everyone who signed up. We look forward to seeing you in Andromeda."
PAX East is March 10-12, so players who happen to be in Boston will be able to get some multiplayer hands-on time on the 12 PCs BioWare will have at their booth. Different character kits will be available each day for the co-op experience. The Microsoft booth will have Mass Effect: Andromeda on Xbox One units as well..
But the cancellation of the tech test opens up the possibility that multiplayer may not quite be ready for a full test in the wild before the game is released on March 21. The game has already gone gold, although that doesn't have the same meaning as it once did given that patches can happen even before the game hits shelves.
The BioWare team will be holding a Q&A with fans at PAX East, which will be streamed live on the convention's official Twitch channel. Hopefully someone will ask them why they cancelled the tech test.

I think they're just focused on polishing the game with a day 1 patch and follow-up patches. It seems like the same problem they had with DAI multiplayer, it was a secondary priority to the bugs in the single player game that needed fixing.
I just hope the multiplayer is in a better state than DAI's was at launch (LOL, who am I kidding).-

The multiplayer in DAI was a mess on launch. The single player (specifically on consoles) was clearly their focus of testing, but it had performance and graphical bugs in addition to quests that would break.
On top of that the KB&M experience in DAI was pretty subpar until they did some patches to add more features and fix QoL issues. It took months before the game was reasonably polished, and AFAIK the multiplayer never got the attention it needed to make it enjoyable.
