Rainbow Six: Siege kicks off Season 2 with Operation Velvet Shield in early February
The focus will be on the Spanish special forces, the Grupo Especial de Operaciones (GEO).
Rainbow Six: Siege has commited to a second season, and the new Special Forces group from Spain will be the first out the door on February 7 with Operation Velvet Shield DLC.
Grupo Especial de Operaciones (GEO) will have two new operators, but right now, Jackal is the only one being mentioned. Also, a new map featuring the rugged coastline of Ibiza, Spain, will be introduced where the operators need to protect a popular nighclub.
But we do get an early glimpse of Jackal from R6 scriptwriter Farah Brixi, saying that Spain assigns each operator a special role based on their skill an preferred tactics. “We created Jackal with that in mind, so that he would fully embody a specific playstyle. When you pick Jackal you are sending a clear message to the opposing team: now they’ve got a target on their back.”
As for the map, it is called Coastline, which is designed “to drive a surround flow of combat for a final rush at its core,”
Further details will be revealed during a Twitch livestream of the Six Invitational at 1:15 p.m. ET / 10:15 a.m. PT on February 5.
