Evo 2017 announces eight games for its tournament, and half of them are new
Tekken 7, Street Fighter 5 and Injustice 2 head the categories.
Evo 2017, properly known as the Evolution Championship Series, has made its selections for this year's popular fighting game tournament, with new titles King of Fighters 14 and Injustice 2 joining the fray.
This year's event in Las Vegas will run July 14-16 and feature the following lineup:
- BlazBlue: Central Fiction
- Guilty Gear Xrd Rev 2
- Injustice 2
- Street Fighter 5
- Super Smash Bros. Melee
- Super Smash Bros. for Wii U
- Tekken 7
- The King of Fighters 14
Four titles from last year's lineup were dropped - Killer Instinct, Mortal Kombat XL, Pokken Tournament and Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 - but have a chance to be added as a ninth game by a fan vote via an Indiegogo charity fundraiser along with the following titles:
- Arms
- Nidhogg
- Skullgirls
- Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo
- Windjammers
ESPN2 broadcast the Street Fighter 5 Championship and even promoted it with a TV spot:
