Fire Emblem Heroes comes to smartphones in February
Nintendo has outlined details of its smartphone Fire Emblem, and it's right around the corner.
Today on its Fire Emblem Nintendo Direct, the company revealed more details about its plans for Fire Emblem on smartphones.
Fire Emblem Heroes is recognizable to fans as mostly similar to the main series, albeit shrunk to fit on a smart device screen. The maps are designed to fit entirely on a smartphone, and the rock-paper-scissors weapon triangle makes its return. Nintendo promises the characters will all feature brand new art and voices made especially for Heroes, alongside a new original story centered on warring kingdoms.
You can recruit famous faces from the Fire Emblem series, summoning them using Orbs with some level of randomness attached. It appears likely this will follow a microtransaction model to unlock new heroes, but the presentation didn't focus on pricing or monetization.
Fire Emblem Heroes is planned to release in February. As part of the promotion leading up to release, Nintendo has opened a public vote to find the fan favorite hero and heroine. The winners will be featured as special versions of the characters in the final game. Plus, voting nets you a Platinum point bonus for your MyNintendo account.

More excited for this than I was for Mario Run. I always thought that Fire Emblem would work the best as a mobile game cause of it's naturally turn-based nature. I think the sprites on the 3DS games look way better than these drawings, but I know that these will appeal to a wider audience. I just hope that it doesn't get too crazy with the F2P stuff.
