Xbox One will have a 'different year' in 2017, Microsoft exec says
Phil Spencer thinks it will be fun, despite no Halo FPS of Gears of War games.
Xbox One has an interesting year planned for gamers, according to Xbox chief Phil Spencer, despite the fact it has already lost one new title in Scalebound.
In responding to a query on Twitter about new IPs, Spencer said that with no Halo FPS or Gears of War title leading the way in 2017, "XB1 games shipping this year are different for us." He said it should be a fun year with "new experiences with different IP.." he later added that he has been playing a lot of Sea of Thieves, a new IP from Rare, and that it "will be great when more people get to play."
Indeed, Sea of Thieves has been getting a lot of play, with Microsoft releasing 17 minutes of gameplay late last week:
While there won't be a Halo FPS, there will be a Halo RTS, with Halo Wars 2 scheduled for release on February 21.
Sea of Thieves, Crackdown 3 and State of Decay 2 are all first-party titles planned for Xbox One this year. All were highlighted when Microsoft revealed the cancellation of PlatinumGames' Scalebound. and of course, we can't forget the anticipated Project Scorpio hardware, which is expected to debut this year.

I am so glad I didn't go with xbox this time around or tempted into buying one. No exclusives worth a shit to me, maybe State of Decay 2 but that is just one game in the entire existence of the system. I like the idea of the Scorpio but if there are no exclusives worth caring about then PS4 pro will just have to carry me until PS5 comes out.
