Final Fantasy 15 Is Getting A New Series of Game Updates
Event scenes and more are on their way to the game.
Square Enix isn't quite finished with Final Fantasy XV, at least not in its current form. Thanks to a recent briefing from director Hajime Tabata, we've just been clued in on the future of the game in terms of updates that are being marched out over the next few months.
Tabata has reiterated that the game won't simply be forgotten after release, a fact that should be comforting to the possible five million players who nabbed a copy on release. The update plan was in fact expanded thanks to the game's massive success, and will include several pieces of content.
For example, Chapter 13's "gameplay satisfaction level" will be improved in Tabata's words, with ring magic receiving enhancements and other improvements to be detailed at a later date. In addition, the second half of the game will be receiving special event scenes that will attempt to answer questions about certain players' fates and more. Localization work will be done to include new voice work, so this is categorized as a "mid-term" goal.
For long-term additions, Tabata has stated that characters important to the story who appear in the main part of the game will be available for use as playable characters as well as a potential avatar system to enable players to create their own original character with which they can enjoy the game.
There's some other interesting stuff coming in the future too, like the ability to start a new game with your items and status from the previous game, bigger font size, boss battles with rewards and achievements, limited time mob hunts, and other augments. All of these additions will be coming down the road for now separately from the original Final Fantasy XV DLC, which is still scheduled for release as it was.
If you're still plugging away in Final Fantasy XV, there's plenty more coming for you to do in the future, which could make it one of the most content-rich releases yet. Check out our Final Fantasy XV guides to get the most out of your adventure with Noctis and the gang!
