God of War and Spider-Man for PS4 will miss this year's PlayStation Experience
You'll have to wait until next year to learn more about Insomniac's friendly neighborhood web slinger.
Insomniac's upcoming Spider-Man game will miss both the Game Awards show and PlayStation Experience—scheduled for Thursday, December 1, and this weekend, December 3-4, respectively.
"Hey, Web-Heads! We're not showing new #SpiderManPS4 content at PSX/The Game Awards, but we're hard at work on cool stuff to share in 2017," Insomniac shared via Twitter.
In a separate tweet, Insomniac sympathized with fans disappointed by the news, but promised big things next year.
Along the same lines, Sony's God of War reboot, which debuted to a positive reception at this year's E3, will also miss PSX. "Sadly, I won't be showing anything of the game at PSX, just heading there to hang out with PlayStation fans and play games," wrote God of War director Cory Barlog via Twitter.
Note that Barlog only mentioned PSX by name. This could mean we'll get a sneak peek at Sony's kinder, gentler Kratos at tomorrow's Game Awards, or wait until 2017 to see more.
Shacknews editor-in-chief Steve Watts took a second look at God of War at E3 following its inaugural trailer, and was pleasantly surprised and optimistic by the reboot's focus on narrative and character development.
"Video games like The Walking Dead and The Last of Us have set high bars for exploring the topic of burgeoning parenthood and responsibility. But it's a more thoughtful premise than we've seen from the series, and it allows for narrative possibilities more complex than a deific murder spree. That's enough to take notice."
