Grand Theft Auto V now up to 70 million units shipped
Mafia 3, NBA 2K17 also have strong first weeks, according to Take-Two's latest financials.
Grand Theft Auto V is the game that just keeps on shipping, at least according to publisher Take-Two Interactive.
In it's latest financial call for investors, the company reported that the popular open-world title has now shipped more that 70 million units, a jump of more than 5 million since may and 10 million since February. CEO Strauss Zelnick said the game still has a "robust demand," with multiplayer mode GTA Online still getting a lot of play.
Keep in mind that shipped units does not equate with units sold to consumers, just the number shipped off to retailers.
GTA V launched in late 2013 for Xbox 360 and PS3, then Xbox One and PS4 in 2014. It finally launched for PC last year.
As for other games, NBA 2K17 had the strongets first week in franchise history, and has shipping more than 4.5 million units since its launch in late September. Mafia 3 shipped the same number, but in the first week, making it the fastest selling title in 2K history. That's saying something considering the company also has GTA and the Civilization series.
Revenue for the quarter also rose, GTA V, led by NBA 2K16 and 2K17, XCOM 2 and BioShock: The Collection.

I only recenty finished playing the single player and went online to check out the status there. It is definitely fun to play the heist-based games. It has a feeling of Payday to it. However, the problem is that those load times... DEAR GOD... They are still horrible. I will sit for 5-10 minutes at a time just waiting for something to happen. No clue what its doing.
