Final Fantasy 15 DLC plans includes multiplayer mode and character episodes
Square Enix has announced a wave of additional content is coming to Final Fantasy 15, one of which includes an online co-op mode for up to four players.
Square Enix promised some kind of Final Fantasy 15-related news today, which comes in the form of a new trailer, the title going gold, as well as information on its upcoming downloadable content.
With today’s news of Final Fantasy 15 going gold, Square Enix has shifted development towards the creation of its Season Pass, which will provide additional content for the next year. The Season Pass will feature three original episodes that will take place during the events of Final Fantasy 15, allowing players to take control of one of Noctis’ comrades, and thus experiencing unique play styles that are tailored to each character.
Through its Season Pass, players can explore previously unseen areas that are filled with new monsters and obtain new weapons that can later be used in the main storyline. The first episode Square Enix will release will be called Episode Gladiolus, which will then be followed up by Episode Ignis and Episode Prompto. Those who prefer to play each episode on its own will be able to purchase them individually.
After each character episode is released, the Comrades expansion pack will be released. The expansion pack will introduce a new online co-op mode for up to four players, each of which will take control of either Noctis, Gladio, Prompto or Ignis, as they take part in “intense battles.” The Comrades expansion will be included in Final Fantasy 15’s Season Pass, as well as for separate purchase.
“Last year I travelled around the world and attended many game events. I felt an amazing passion and sense of expectation towards FINAL FANTASY XV from series fans everywhere,” said Final Fantasy 15 producer, Haruyoshi Sawatari. “From seeing that I really wanted to make it so that the fans could enjoy the game for longer and evolve and expand it even further. I will take these feelings and give them form, to deliver an amazing experience.”
The new CG cinematic trailer, called “Omen,” was created by DIGIC Pictures, which has also worked on KINGSGLAIVE: FINAL FANTASY XV. In the trailer, Noctis is forced to proceed through a rapidly-changing world as he fights seemingly endless waves of enemies, a gradual loss of his abilities, and actions that puts his fiancee in danger.
