Report: Nintendo NX reveal 'coming next week'
We could be learning all about the Nintendo NX as early as next week.
The Nintendo NX will reportedly be revealed next week.
The report of the long-awaited unveiling of the Nintendo NX comes from the Macquarie Group, which has downgraded Nintendo’s stock from its previous “Outperform” rating to “Neutral” as it says its official reveal is coming next week. This lines up with previous reports saying the console would make its debut in October 2016.
The reason for the downgrade is because it believes the console will come at a price that will be seen as a “major” disappointment for volume sales, which the Macquarie Group says the NX will retail between $300 and $350.
This price point is being considered as a way to keep in line with competing consoles, which would be quite the departure from how the Nintendo Wii was priced against the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 when it was announced. Considering the Nintendo NX won’t outperform either the PlayStation 4 Pro or the Xbox Scorpio, the $300 - $350 price point appears to be the logical range, especially since it’s expected to be a console / mobile hybrid.
This past Summer, Nintendo reconfirmed its NX would launch globally in March 2017, which means it’ll have approximately five months for gamers to gain interest in the unit. If they can assure its fans a new The Legend of Zelda, Super Mario, and Pokemon game would release six months within its launch, then we could see interest skyrocket with ease.
We’ve reached out to Nintendo for comment and will update our story accordingly.

isn't the Wii a massive outlier for launching at < $300? At least in the past decade? Seems a little odd to have expected the NX to launch at significantly less, especially if you believe the hybrid console rumors that presumably would use evolutions of the Wii U and 3DS tech that brought their launch prices upwards.

Splatoon which is almost entirely multiplayer sold 5 million units. Its kept an online community hooked through regular map/gear updates and community events for its first year (RIP Splatfests). Mario Kart 8 and Smash 4 are both big online. Mario Maker is the best its been now that quality makers tend to get upvoted over gimmick courses ("don't move" courses, etc)

They almost never do based on past incidences. Dolphin, Revolution, Reality, etc. Really most of them are bad:

Honestly though, I'd be cool with The Nintendo. It is supposed to unify their console and handheld libraries, forwards compatibility is supposed to be a cornerstone feature, and some degree of backwards compatibility is a given.
Its a strong name that hearkens back to when every video game system was "the Nintendo"-

Re: colors, I'd like to see more options or changeable faceplates like the New 3DS has. Have white but also give something else. Color options were crazy with the N64, Gameboy Color, Gamecube, and GBA (purple, orange, clear!).
The Wii U was all serious business with white and black being the only colors. Like, I love the Wii U Pro Controller but I wish there were options other than black or white. I have Wii remotes in all kinds of colors and the custom XBox One controllers are great. Here are some that I ordered:

So yeah, more colors or faceplates would be cool. Also, if Nintendo doesn't make an NX that looks like the Sheikah Slate they are literally burning money.

I like all these things especially the Sheikah Slate! But I think out of the gate it should have a uniform color for branding. Can you imagine the NES or SNES in other colors? It may have eventually come in others – I don't know – but you have a specific image for it because the primary colors were iconic.
I also change my mind and now think they should do the NES colors as a throwback. If they absolutely want color rather than grey, do an SNES throwback color scheme.
100% agree about the controllers though.-

Also, how nuts would it be if the NX was revealed in plain sight at E3?

Haha that'd be pretty awesome. And kinda meta...
I'm a shoe-in for zelda themed gear. One of the main reasons I got a DS is because of the gold one that came with link between worlds: https://i5.walmartimages.com/asr/bcb25283-e7e8-4da4-a85a-7ad48f39eaea_1.728e9821bb43d66622b8f5baf54a4fce.jpeg?odnHeight=450&odnWidth=450&odnBg=FFFFFF
