Overwatch Has Reached 20 Million Registered Players
There's an impressive amount of people wo play Overwatch, it turns out.
Overwatch has a staggering amount of players, though you probably didn't need us to tell you that. It was announced that the team-based shooter has surpassed its 15 million total players it had two months ago and has hit a ridiculous 20 million registered players. It's all the more impressive when you consider the fact that the game has only been out less than six months.
It's been a smashing success, and it shows no signs of slowing down. Blizzard hasn't yet given out explicit sales numbers, but according to the NPD it managed to take the slot of June's highest-selling game, and it's become a veritable cultural phenomenon, at least in the gaming world.
It's still running ahead at full steam too, with its first PVE event, Halloween Terror, which officially kicked off yesterday. It'll be interesting to see just how high the player count can go, especially since we're just scratching the surface as far as new content and additional augments for players go.

Yeah, it got me to play it when the last multiplayer game I played extensively was TF2 when it first came out. OW has definitely been an amazing game, although it can get frustrating at times if you let it get to you. I took a break until this recent Halloween update and now it's a ton of fun again and I can let losses and frustrating teammates slide.
Blizzard definitely made a winner with Overwatch.-
It's definitely a game that comes with emotional swings. It's on a level that I probably haven't experienced in a team shooter before. It's relatively easy to carry in games like CS, but you are so dependent on team in overwatch it puts a lot of players on edge about how others perform.
I do have to say that I've had far more pleasant teams as the season has gone on.
