Paragon adds swordsman Kwang in latest update

Some tweaks were made to shorten the length of matches as well.

The team at Epic has releasd a new update for Paragon, adding new fighter initiator Kwang to the roster of heroes.

If you want the technical details, here's what he has to offer:

  • Light of the Heavens - Beams of light strike Kwang’s sword, dealing AoE damage around it and giving him Physical and Energy Armor.
  • Judgement of the Heavens - Kwang throws his sword to the heavens. When it lands, it deals damage and tethers enemies to it. The sword remains planted in the ground forever, until retriggered or the next basic attack.
  • Gift of the Heavens - Passive: Kwang’s sword bursts with light, creating an aura around it that grants lifesteal to both Kwang and allies around him.
  • Fury of the Heavens - Kwang spins his blade around him in an AoE, damaging and slowing enemies. If his sword has been thrown and is out in the world he will teleport to it before attacking.

In addition to Kwang, the v.32.1 update brings a drop in the number of hitpoints for tier 2 towers to cut down on match times, as well as three new cards in the weekly pack. The patch also adds changes and fixes to various heroes and abilities.

The dev team gave some thought into the changes, particularly shortening the length of games. Paragon is still open beta on Steam, and plenty more changes are planned before the game hits version 1.0.

Should I be giving this thing a try? What's the consensus from the MOBA elitists?

I'm not sure how it is now, but during the beta the items were cards that you equipped to your character. The problem was that you had to unlock them and which cards you unlocked was completely random. That randomness coupled with really badly broken match making (it was beta so player pool size was probably the issue there) really turned me off of the game. Other than that it was a pretty fun 3rd person moba, and it is gorgeous.
