Metal Gear Survive has nothing to do with me, Kojima says
Series creator not sure what zombies are doing in the game any way.
Konami is moving on with the Metal Gear franchise after the departure of series creator Hideo Kojima. It's new title Metal Gear Survive is a 4-player co-op game with zombies, scheduled for release in 2017. And while Kojima has nothing to do with the game, he still gets asked about it.
At a discussion surrounding Kojima Productions' upcoming Death Stranding, one fan asked him about Metal Gear Survive and if he had any input on it. Kojima made no bones about how he felt. "I’m not involved at all, and I don’t know anything about it,” Kojima explained when asked. “Personally speaking, Metal Gear Solid is espionage to me, political fiction. I don’t think zombies would appear in such a world.”
Yoji Shinkawa, who is an artist with Kojima at his new studio and done extensive work on Metal Gear games, said: “Personally, I consider Metal [Gears] to be bipedal weapons. I wonder if they’ll appear,” Metal Gear designed Yoji Shinkawa added. “A Metal Gear without a Metal [Gear]? That’s the Famicom version.”
Of course, Konami is moving full steam ahead with the game, releasing 15 minutes of game play at TGS. Here's the video:
