Gearbox announces Duke Nukem 3D: 20th Anniversary Edition World Tour
The re-released improves elements of Duke Nukem 3D and features new assets made by some of the game's original developers.
At PAX West, Jon St. John—the voice of Duke Nukem—joined Gearbox Software boss Randy Pitchford to announce Duke Nukem 3D: 20th Anniversary Edition World Tour, a re-release replete with a brand-new, eight-level episode coming to Xbox One, PC, and PS4.
You'll be able to play the game with original visuals or updated graphics via Gearbox's true-3D rendering mode. Furthermore, World Tour will include a commentary track and new music.
Pitchford said that Richard 'Levelord' Gray and other 3D Realms devs contributed to the new campaign. St. John chimed in, saying he had the chance to record some of his favorite lines and quip some new ones: "I had eggs for breakfast; your mom had sausage."
"Making it possible for Allen, Richard, Lee, and Jon to all come back together 20 years later to bring a whole new episode to the classic game is just one of those rare and incredible things that I hope will bring joy and happiness to hardcore video game fans new and old," said Pitchford.
The game will be available on October 11, and is available for preorder now.

It's even in the Duke Nukem Soundboard app for iOS (which unfortunately doesn't work in iOS 9 apparently)

Excited to see how the PS4 port turns out. Loved the 360 version and I'm mega hyped for the new episode. Would be great for Duke to end on a high note instead of The Birth, which I always felt was a lacking expansion pack (especially compared to Duke It Out in DC and Duke Caribbean). :(
I wish more 2.5D shooters would get ported to consoles. With modern twin stick FPS controls, that style of game just works SO PERFECT. Never really noticed how perfect it was until I played Wolfenstein 3D on 360...god, I can't even go back to the PC release again. -
