No Man's Sky already has an update with release still a week away
New features, balancing and content added.
No Man's Sky's August 9 PS4 release is still almost a week away (must add the obligatory "a bit longer for PC"), but the team at Hello Games has already completed the first update for the highly anticipated space sim.
"Wrapping up a month of work on our first update. Lots of new features, balancing and content," Sean Murray said in a tweet to fans. After the game went gold on July 7, the team started working on the update. He offered no details on what has been added or balanced.
Unfortunately for the team, a copy of the game leaked early, with a fan dropping $2,000 to get it, then making his way to the center of the galaxy in about 30 hours. User Daymeeuhn said that he encountered some bugs and glitches, but it is unknown if the update addresses any of those, or modifies items in game that allowed the player to get to the center so quickly.
Murray has been quick to discourage fans from reading anything from the leak. Those that had watched leaked videos had been picking the game apart, with Murray trying to allay any concerns by promising that fans would get their hands on the game soon enough.

On this deal here, I'm sure it's been discussed but I can't see how having a bazillion worlds to explore wouldn't get very repetitive very fast as far as the content goes.
I don't know how you can have a procedural system that would be so extensive that it would keep things fresh from planet to planet.
Seems to me like that content would be stretched pretty thin?-
Seed each planet with resources required to upgrade your gear and ship. Make some elements common, some rare and some extremely rare. Most importantly of all, make it random as to which planets have them and which do not. Bonus points if you give players a way to display their gear/item level to the rest of the players.

Keep in mind that this wasn't announced as a day 1 patch or anything like that.
It may end up being one, but they have referred to it as "update 1" when mentioning it, and the last thing No Man's Sky needs is more speculation based on anything other than the literal words these developers are using. -

Here's a stream of someone playing the game if you wanna see for yourself. Gameplay spoilers for No Man's Sky, but keep in mind you will almost certainly never see these planets. It looks incredible, honestly. I am hype.
