Pokemon Go will soon support trading, leaderboards, and maybe even Hololens
Niantic has some big plans for Pokemon Go, including possibly being supported by dedicated AR headsets like the Hololens.
Pokemon Go is about to be more addictive thanks to some upcoming features Niantic has planned for the popular mobile game.
Speaking with Business Insider, Niantic CEO John Hanke teases the ability to trade Pokemon with other players by saying “it’s kind of a core element.” While Hanke didn’t go into specifics as to how that would be done, he does say trading Pokemon ties in with one of Pokemon Go’s core virtues as it’ll encourage players to interact with each other, both in virtual and real worlds.
Interactions with Pokestops and Gyms will also receive some new features as they currently exist in their “very, most basic versions.” In future updates, players will be given the ability to customize how they function in other ways. Global leaderboards, improvements to the AR feature, and even talk of expanding to dedicated AR devices have also been mentioned.

So I downloaded this - it's showing Pokemons in houses down the street and in backyards and crap. Do they really expect people to go prowling through backyards looking for these lol?
Also, what's actually involved in finding them in AR mode? The one it said was inside my place didn't appear to show up in that mode no matter what I tried. -

Nintendo's mobile strategy:

2010: what's an Android
2012: nope
2014: still no

The twitters (I know, grain of salt) are talking about this a bunch. Here are a couple of links:

still wondering how that was even possible. a complete skeleton key granted with no popups or anything.
necessary is irrelevant, obviously, since companies want maximum access for data scraping. this one happened to get it, so I am wondering how many more apps pop up with that sort of full permissions to google embedded in the app. just by logging in, you are granting permanent FULL access to that app. it doesn't even say anything... at all. and if you revoke it at google, and log back in... there it is, back with full access again.

A big twitch streamer is playing GO at his mall: https://www.twitch.tv/summit1g
pretty funny -
Ok, I discovered a major source of irritation: You can spend a bunch of time and resources leveling up a gym, only to have some other random schmoe stick their Pokemon in the new slot before you can get to it.
It really stifles my motivation to play, since there is zero benefit to controlling gyms except to have your Pokemon there to earn stardust and coins. -

In the early days of Ingress, it was possible for anyone to submit a location to be whatever the Ingress equivalent of a Pokestop is. The requests had to be reviewed by actual people who decided whether to put the location in the game. Eventually a combination of enough locations and too much manpower to review new submissions resulted in them discontinuing the process. AFAIK there is still no process for people not working at Niantic to submit new locations.

Oh, you're in Canada. Here in the US a blank stop means there's a stop there, but the app hasn't managed to load the data, because the app is terrible. In Canukistan it might mean that, or it might mean there's a stop but it hasn't been enabled since the game isn't out yet, or it might mean something else. I don't know.
