Red Dead Redemption Xbox 360 sales spike on Amazon
Backward compatibility announcement is the only answer.
A day after Microsoft and Rockstar revealed that popular Western shooter Red Dead Redemption would be coming to Xbox One via backward compatibility, sales of the game on Amazon have shot through the proverbial roof.
Red Dead Redemption Game of the Year Edition is currently #1 on the site's Movers and Shakers list for video games, skyrocketing from 1,544 to 26 in sales rank (5,838%). The Platinum hits version of the game, which runs a bit cheaper, jumped from 690 to 55 (1,154%). The numbers cover sales within the past 24 hours.
It is unclear how much of the sales are new versus used, but if the game is doing this well on Amazon, it is probably doing similar sales on the Xbox Marketplace.
The move has been a boon for Rockstar, and could conceivable have similar implications for other developers wanting their older games accessible on the current-gen Xbox One, especially with MS doing almost all the work.
What games would you want to see become backward compatible?
