Nintendo reconfirms NX will release globally in March 2017
Nintendo has once again confirmed its NX will release globally in March 2017.
Nintendo has reconfirmed its next game console, codenamed the Nintendo NX, will launch worldwide in March 2017.
The confirmation comes from Nintendo’s 76th Annual General Meeting of Shareholders, where Nintendo not only revealed March 2017 was its planned release date window for the Nintendo NX, but we also learned the reason why the company didn’t make an official reveal at E3 2016 was due to the fact it was worried about imitators if info was released too early.
As of now, no one know what exactly Nintendo is planning with its NX as we’ve heard reports it could usher in the return of cartridges, and it could even have some kind of VR element to it. Luckily, we won’t have to wait long to learn more about the NX considering it’s expected to release in less than a year.

I honestly hope they stick to NX rather than something fucking stupid again.
Wii is still an unbelievably dumb name, people didn't buy it for the whacky name, they bought it for the waggle controls and Wii Sports, then bought no other games. Quite why they went with Wii U as an even dumber follow up name is entirely beyond. -

I think the Zelda demo showed it wasn't going to have a 2nd screen in the controller. Since there was a bunch of stuff clearly designed for the 2nd screen and it was removed for the demo.
Zelda was originally a WiiU game so the controller screen was included in the original design, only to be removed later when it became a dual NX/WiiU project. -
I played BotW for an hour. The second screen wasn't used at all. The only thing on it was a button guide for the controller. No maps, no inventory, nothing.
Maybe that stuff wasn't implemented for the E3 build but there was nothing at E3 that confirmed that secondary screen is integral, again because it wasn't used at all. They could have had the demo on Wii U Pro Controllers and it would have played exactly the same.-
That is in fact what Nintendo said at E3 about BOTW. http://www.gamespot.com/articles/zelda-breath-of-the-wild-doesnt-require-the-wii-us/1100-6440877/
In my opinion nothing so far has said that the NX will come with a second screen in the controller. I wouldn't be surprised if that was an extra add-on you could get for it, though.-
Some sort of addon or compatibility with the Wii U gamepad would be cool, mainly because I really want backwards compatibility with the Wii U. There are a crapton of fantastic games that people who skipped the Wii U have missed out on. If the NX is a hit then either BC or ports would be cool.
Games like Mario Maker and what feels like an inevitable sequel would also really benefit. -

this is untrue, Aonuma even gave an interview where he said the second screen is distracting and they are specifically avoiding it:
"The developers tried the dual screen approach with Zelda, but rejected it.
“We realized that having something on the GamePad and looking back and forth between the TV screen and the GamePad actually disrupts the gameplay, and the concentration that the game player may be experiencing,” Aonuma said. “You have your car’s GPS system on your dash. If you had it down in your lap, you’re going to get into an accident!” Still, you can play the game entirely on the GamePad screen, if you like. Considering how vast the world is, it would keep you from monopolizing the TV.
It’s a safe bet that Aounuma favored single-screen gameplay with a standard gaming controller because Nintendo is bringing Breath of the Wild to NX, its next console. The two games will play identically. “I’m not going to create something where the users are going to have a different experience,” he says."

Here's Miyamoto's explanation for why we haven't heard anything about NX at this point.

TL;DR Nintendo doesn't want people to copy their idea. "We're worried about imitators." -
