Fable Fortune card game gets private investment, ends kickstarter
Expect a closed beta sooner rather than later.
The Kickstarter for the Fable Legends card game was not going exceptionally well, having garnered in the first three weeks of the campaign only £58,852 of the requested £250,000 it was seeking. The bad news? The ex-Lionhead development team of Flaming Fowl Studios has cancelled the crowdfunding push. The good news? Private investment backers have been found and the game will be pushing toward a closed beta quickly.
In an update on the Kickstarter site explaining the development, the team did not disclose who had provided the additional funding, but it was apparently enough to start building more improvements into the game.
"With the immediate future of Fable Fortune now secure, we have taken the decision to end our Kickstarter campaign early to focus on releasing a Closed Beta build as quickly as possible," the post said. "As we've always stated, we want to make this game with your help, your feedback and your input. We have huge plans for Fortune and we know that whatever happens in the future, it all started with our already incredible community."
The game has an alpha build out for backers already, and that will remain active, but the company is already accepting signups for the closed beta. Of course, if you already backed the game, you will get into the beta without signing up.
