E3 2016: The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild will get simultaneous Wii U, Nintendo NX release
Nintendo has confirmed what we've suspected all along: Nintendo Wii U and Nintendo NX owners will be able to pick up The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild at the same time next year.
The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild will get a simultaneous release on both the Wii U and NX, Nintendo announced today.
Today’s news comes a few months after The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild was rumored to release on both consoles simultaneously just a few months ago. The rumor said we could be seeing the game release on both consoles in holiday 2016, but Nintendo has confirmed the game will instead release in 2017.
Nintendo held a special E3 presentation today which debuted the long-awaited Legend of Zelda game, as well as revealing its full title. During the stream, we learned Breath of the Wild will be the first true Zelda RPG as well as learning about brand-new Amiibo based on the game.
While it’s great to hear both Nintendo Wii U and future Nintendo NX owners will be able to play The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Nintendo has yet to reveal whether the former version will be limited in any way considering it’s running on an older console. If there are any limitations on the Wii U version of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild when compared to the Nintendo NX version, we'll be sure to report it.

Yeah, as far as downgrades go for the Gamecube version vs the Wii version of Twilight Princess, all I can remember is that the Gamecube version didn't support 16:9 and had a less consistent frame rate in heavy action. But I liked being able to use the cube controller so that's the version I went with.
I"m guessing we will see somewhat more significant differences here. Maybe the NX version will run at 1080p or something, since the Wii U version will undoubtedly run at 720p30.
