Destiny servers going down for maintenance ahead of Rise of Iron livestream
Destiny's servers are going down for scheduled maintenance the same day we're expected to learn more about the Rise of Iron. Coincidence? We think not.
Bungie has announced it will be taking the servers down for Destiny on June 9, 2016 for a scheduled maintenance.
The scheduled maintenance is taking place the same day as Bungie has scheduled a Destiny-related livestream, which was announced just last week. The maintenance will kick off at 8am PT and is expected to complete prior to 1pm PT. Starting at 8am PT, players will not be able to log into Destiny in order to prepare for maintenance. Then, at 9am PT, players will be removed from all activities as Destiny’s servers will be taken offline. As usual, Guardians will receive prior notice via in-game messaging to alert them to the upcoming server maintenance period.
Coincidentally, the livestream will begin at 10am PT / 1pm ET, which Bungie plans on offering its first glimpse at what awaits Guardians later this year. Whether or not tomorrow’s maintenance has anything to do with Bungie’s upcoming livestream is yet unknown, but seeing how both are scheduled on the same day and will take place around the same time makes us believe Guardians should expect something from tomorrow’s announcement to be immediately available in Destiny.
Earlier today, we learned Destiny: Rise of Iron will release on both Xbox One and PlayStation 4 this fall thanks to a leak that came directly from Bungie. The Rise of Iron expansion involves a centuries-old wall along the southern border of Old Russia collapsing, allowing Fallen mutants to scavenge tombs of the Golden Age. What they unearth turns out to be more dangerous than even the Fallen can understand.
