Destiny: Rise of Iron will release on September 20
Wolves, snow, and new gear will make their way to Xbox One and PS4 this fall.
Following a leak that all but confirmed the title for the next Destiny expansion, another leak let a release date slip—only this time the leak came directly from Bungie.
Earlier this afternoon, the Destiny website jumped the gun by showing a release date and platforms for Rise of Iron. Bungie has since taken down the update, but GameSpot grabbed a screen touting a trailer for Rise of Iron, the expansion's due date and platforms, and a graphic depicting a guardian flanked by two wolves and standing in a snowy field.

Various Xbox digital stores also posted a store page for Rise of Iron. Those too have been removed. Twitter user "Gothalion" managed to snap a pic from an Xbox page that contains story details: "The wall which stood for centuries along the southern border of Old Russia has collapsed. Fallen mutants now scavenge the tombs of the Golden Age, and the plague they have unearthed in the wastes is more dangerous than even they understand. Join Lord Saladin, journey to the Plaguelands, and learn the fate of the Iron Lords and stop the growing threat before it’s too late."
Bungie didn't let the cat (er, wolves) out of the bag too early. The developer planned to unveil the game tomorrow, June 9, during a livestream event.
Note that the leak only mentions Xbox One and PS4. This doesn't necessarily preclude a release on last-gen systems; Bungie will likely clarify these and other details during tomorrow's broadcast.

I disagree, the main story might still be a bit confusing, but they actually managed to create a proper story and narrative in TTK. It might not be a story that was interesting to you, but they followed a formula that works for the game that it is. It sounds like you are expecting it to be something it isn't.

They did what they could with what they had in the expansion, but I would never call it a compelling campaign and I would barely call it a story. The addition of scannable objects to add details is putting a band-aid on the gunshot wound of their storytelling methods.
The shooting is still really satisfying though, so if you ignore all the other crap you can have a good time for a while.

I'm confused. If you bought TTK you can "spark" one character to level 25 after completing the first mission and start the new content in less than ten minutes. The story, while stupid, is really easy to follow since purple markers direct you to the next mission(s) for any active quests.
That said, the whole point of a looter is to play the same areas again and again to get better gear. If you don't like the grind then the game isn't for you.
