The Witcher 3's Gwent may become its own standalone game
A trademark for Gwent The Witcher Card Game may have tipped us off to the popular collectible card game's upcoming standalone release.
CD Projekt Red is expected to announce a standalone version of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt’s questionably popular card game, Gwent, called Gwent The Witcher Card Game.
According to NerdLeaks, a new trademark and logo for Gwent The Witcher Card Game was registered by CD Projekt Red on June 6th into the European Union Intellectual Property Office. Given the timing of the trademark filing, we’re sure the developer is planning to make its announcement sometime during E3, which takes place next week.
Considering CD Projekt Red is prepared to release a full-fledged Gwent game outside of The Witcher 3 world, the company must have realized it had a hit on its hands shortly after the game’s release. While we don’t think it’ll dethrone the current king of collectible card games, Hearthstone, we’re sure fans of The Witcher 3 will enjoy their time with the game, although we have a feeling all of the cards you collected in The Witcher 3 won’t be transferrable.
Although if they are transferrable, then that could be a step in the right direction to get fans of the game to play its standalone version.

I barely touched Gwent but not because I disliked it. Rather, because I knew I'd love it and play it for dozens of hours.
I'd love a proper Gwent game. Doubly so for a physical card version. A LCG version of Gwent would be great - because I refuse to get into CCG's again. Something with deckbuilding like Netrunner, maybe ('faction" points and such).
