E3 2016: Gears of War 4 debuts with Xbox Play Anywhere
Prepare to kill countless grubs as Gears of War 4 once again takes center stage at E3. And, you can play on PC!
It’s been nearly a year since Microsoft announced Gears of War 4 for the Xbox One. Since then, fans of the series have been able to enjoy its multiplayer beta as well as learn a little bit more about who we’re going to be playing in the upcoming shooter. With an expected launch on October 11, Microsoft has more to Gears of War 4 to show at this year’s E3.
Rod Fergusson opened the conference by announcing it would be among the first games as part of a new Xbox Play Anywhere program, which supports digital cross-buy between Xbox One and Windows 10, along with cross-platform play. That means that Gears 4 will be coming to PC as well, and purchasing it on either platform will give you access to the other.
In an extended look at the single-player campaign, we saw a look at some of the new weapons, and a vicious battle in the middle of a lightning storm. We even got a cinematic look at an old Marcus Fenix. Fergusson also teased a new Horde mode.
