Yooka-Laylee delayed until Q1 2017; E3 2016 trailer released
Playtonic Games has announced Yooka-Laylee has been delayed, but at least we have a brand-new trailer to gawk at.
Playtonic Games has announced Yooka-Laylee will now release on PC and consoles in Q1 2017.
The studio says the reason for the delay was to help give fans the kind of product they expect. “After a lot of soul searching and knowing through dialogue with our fans that they value quality and polish above all, we’ve made the difficult decision to lock the release of Yooka-Laylee to Q1 2017,” said creative director and MD of Platonic, Gavin Price. “While we felt confident we could ship the game in October as originally planned, the team has decided that it would like to add a few extra months’ polish to our schedule. Ultimately, this will allow us to release a better game to the thousands of fans who’ve supported us throughout development.”
We first learned about Yooka-Laylee back in February 2015, which Playtonic Games has slowly revealed new information regarding the game over the past year. The platformer was originally expected to release in October 2016, but will now release sometime in Q1 2017.
To help fans cope with Yooka-Laylee’s delay, Playtonic has released the game’s official E3 2016 trailer, which is the first time we’ve seen actual gameplay of the title. Fans of the Banjo-Kazooie series will get a sense of deja vu watching the trailer.
