Total War: Warhammer sets franchise sales record
More than half a million copies have been sold within the first three days.
There have been quite a few Total War games in the franchise, but apparently Warhammer is the best of the bunch, at least in terms of early sales according to Sega.
Since the game launched on Tuesday, Total War: Warhammer has sold more than 500,000 copies on Steam, making it the fastest selling Total War game in the series. On top of that, concurrent users on Steam have broken the 100,000 mark, according to Creative Assembly's Tim Heaton, a territory that only Dota 2 and Counter-Strike: Global Offensive have topped regularly. As of this moment, the game had 85,619 players, with a peak today of 98,913.
“The team paid particular attention to stability and performance throughout the game’s development and thoroughly enjoyed creating new ways to play Total War within Games Workshop’s stunning Warhammer Fantasy world," Heaton said. "We’re very proud of it, and it’s wonderful to see the game receiving such a great reception from critics, Total War veterans and new players alike.”
If you are one of the ones who have yet to buy the game, you'll want to do it before 3 PM EDT / noon PDT on May 31 so you can get the Chaos Warriors race pack for free as an early adopter bonus. Of course, if you have never played a Total War game, Creative Asssembly created a video especially for you.
