Battlefield 1 introduces World War I warfare on October 21
EA and DICE have announced details surrounding Battlefield 1, which we now know will take place during World War I.
Electronic Arts and DICE have announced Battlefield 1 during a special event held in Los Angeles, California today.
Battlefield 1 will take place during World War I, and given the type of fighting that went on at the time, we can expect battles to take place in small, close-quarters urban areas. Although we’ll also be seeing big, sprawling battles across open fields. Sorry, fans of mid-sized battles. I guess this game isn’t for you.
The game will feature a squad-based system with four distinct classes: Assault (attacks with artillery); Medic (the obvious healers); Support (capable of assisting Assault); and Intel (scopes out and tags enemies). Given the timeframe, pistols, shotguns, machine guns, rifles, and flamethrowers will be just some of the weapons we can expect in Battlefield 1. Melee weapons will also have more variation, such as a shovel, mace, and more, which will also have their own pros and cons.
As is customary with the majority of Battlefield games, Battlefield 1 will allow players to get behind the wheel of several vehicle types, including tanks, airplanes, and even horses. A Zeppelin was shown in today’s reveal trailer, although it’s unclear at this point if players will be able to pilot it or not.
Locales in Battlefield 1 will reflect locations of battles that took place during World War I, so players should expect theaters in Italy, Arabia, and France, to name a few.
Battlefield 1 is scheduled to release on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One on October 21, 2016.

Probably curious to see if they do something different though especially considering bayonets.

So I'm not huge DiCE fan or BF fan, but I would argue they did a much better job launching battlefront than BF4. I got the feeling that the shit show that was the launch of bc2, bf3, and BF4 actually got some attention and a plan to not launch a completely busted product.
8 don't remember the hard line launch but I thought that was smoother than BF4 as well. I didn't play it. -

how many months before the game actually fucking starts up?
how many months before the first DLC that wrecks the community?
how many months before the first patch that brings the performance and netcode up to BF4 circa launch date quality?
how many months before a patch drops it back below even that?
how many months before paid unlocks?
how many months before all the issues that BF3 and 4 fixed at some point, that this game will inevitably launch with, are fixed?
how many months before all the shit that was never even addressed in BF3/4 are pointed out in a flurry of youtubers with irritating midwestern accents?

What a naysaying bunch of crybabies. It all looks pretty damn awesome! Triplanes and zepplins! Gas warfare! Horses! The only thing that would make it better is riding dinosaurs but hey, possible DLC.. Yeah, DICE games at launch are a rough ride but even at it's worst I still loved the hell out of BF4.
