First Telltale Batman news revealed; releasing Summer 2016
Prepare to dive deep into the mind of both Bruce Wayne and Batman.
Telltale Games announced it was going to be developing a game based on DC Comics’ Batman series. Today, during its SXSW panel, the developer revealed new information regarding the upcoming game, which is scheduled to debut this Summer.
Telltale feels Batman is the perfect character to explore as the team explores its iconic brand of consequence-heavy narrative. For example: decisions made by Bruce Wayne could directly impact his nightly crusade as Batman, and vice versa. Certain key scenes will allow the player to approach it as either Bruce or Batman, with consequences arising from either decision.
The game isn’t tied to any existing iteration of Batman and will focus squarely on Bruce Wayne and Batman, and not of the extended “Bat-family,” so don’t expect Robin, Nightwing, or other similar characters to be involved. Certain series staples, such as Alfred Pennyworth, Vicki Vale, James Gordon, and Renee Montoya, are expected to show up. As for villains, Telltale is keeping that info to themselves until we get closer to the premiere.
The actions the player takes will help shape the Gotham City, with certain characters having a deeply personal relationship with Bruce in his personal life. Decisions made by either Bruce or Batman will greatly affect their path through the story.
